Shadowmoor
Shadowmoor was released in May 2008 and is the first set in the Shadowmoor block. Shadowmoor introduced the mechanics Conspire, Persist, and Wither. The same races that appear in Lorwyn also appear in Shadowmoor but with some color shifting. The race artifact creature Scarecrows was introduced. Many cards from Shadowmoor were made to reflect cards that were printed in Lorwyn and Morningtide but with a darker theme. Some notable cards include Firespout, Kitchen Finks, Murderous Redcap, Reflecting Pool, and Spectral Procession.
Eventide
Eventide was released as the second set in the Shadowmoor block. Hybrid spells used in this set are enemy-colored, which differs from Shadowmoor’s ally-colored. Notable cards include Bloom Tender, Figure of Destiny, Gilder Bairn, Helix Pinnacle and Stillmoon Cavalier. Eventide mechanics follow Shadowmoor’s basic principles with the using -1/-1 counters, Wither and Persist. Eventide also introduced us to the keywords Chroma and Retrace.
