Ravnica
Nothing ever changes in Ravnica. For countless millennia, cities have covered the entire plane. Eventually, they ran together into one vast megalopolis -- a patchwork of grand halls, decrepit slums, ancient ruins, and layer upon layer of stonework structures.
Ravnica was released in October of 2005 and is the first set in the Ravnica block. Ravnica introduced us to the hybrid mana system as well as 4 of the 10 Ravnica 2 color guilds. These guilds are Boros Legion, Selesnya Conclave, House Dimir, and Golgari Swarm. The Ravnica duel lands were Overgrown Tomb, Sacred Foundry, Temple Garden, and Watery Grave. Other notable cards include Blazing Archon, Dark Confidant, Life from the Loam, Lightning Helix, and Loxodon Hierarch.Guildpact
The Guildpact has kept Ravnica stable for thousands of years. But with ten guilds vying to become the dominant force on the planet, there's always a chance that things will break down. Guildpact continues the story of this massive city, and introduces players to three more guilds.Izzet League, Gruul Clans, and Orzhov Syndicate. Mechanics used in Guildpact were Replicate, Bloodthirst, and Haunt. Notable cards include Angel of Despair, Burning-Tree Shaman, Electrolyze, Leyline of the Void, Steam Vents, Godless Shrine, and Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind.

Dissension was released in May of 2006 and is the final set in the Ravnica block. Dissension helped expand the protection ability by adding protection from monocolored and multicolored cards. The last three of the two colored guilds were introduced and included Azorius Senate, Simic Combine, and Cult of Rakdos. Notable cards include Avatar of Discord, Demonfire, Pride of the Clouds, Research/Development, Simic Sky Swallower, Spell Snare, Trygon Predator, and Breeding Pool.
